Narinder Singh Kapany, also referred to as the daddy of fibre optics, handed away. The India-born American physicist was named as one of many seven “Unsung Heroes” by Fortune of their ‘Businessmen of the Century’ problem of November 1999.

Kapany was the primary to transmit photos by way of fibre optics again in 1954 and laid the inspiration for high-speed web expertise. He not solely based fibre optics but in addition used his personal invention for the enterprise. He based the Optics Technology Incorporation and Kaptron Incorporation in 1960 and 1973 respectively. He studied at Agra University after which moved to Imperial College in London. He obtained his PhD from the University of London in 1955.

He obtained ‘The Excellence 2000 Award’ from the USA Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce in 1998, a fellow of quite a few scientific societies together with the British Royal Academy of Engineering, the Optical Society of America, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
