Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering just about launched RuPay card Phase-II, to permit Bhutanese cardholders to entry RuPay community in India. In August 2019, PM Modi and his Bhutanese counterpart collectively launched Phase-I of the undertaking.

The implementation of Phase-I of RuPay playing cards in Bhutan has enabled the guests from India to entry ATMs and Point of Sale (PoS) terminals throughout Bhutan. Phase-II will now permit Bhutanese cardholders to entry RuPay community in India.
